Interface for future computers

In the research division Microsoft Research are doing a lot of interesting things. In particular, there comes a projection table, Microsoft Surface computer and camera controller Microsoft Kinect. They are not shy to play with technology inventions (see, for example, a recent trial using Kinect), but there are third-party developers that make things interesting on the latest technologies Microsoft.

Dr. Neal Rudin and his team demonstrate different Nsquared clever tricks with the Surface, Kinect, phone with Windows Phone 7 and Tablet PC.

In this video, Rudin shows how the phone can be put on Surface and seen on the surface of the table extension screen phone will be spread around the machine obtained by SMS.
Then, the inventor demonstrates how to drawn on a Surface chart at home can be imposed from the top plate, showing the three-dimensional image with textures and shadows (so imagine the configuration space is much easier). Also, the tablet can be held in front of him, seeing the rendering facilities, as the map displayed on the Surface, - to watch which way the plan is directed gaze.

This is followed by a demonstration using Kinect. Rudin uses speech recognition and gestures to issue commands to the computer. The TV then displays all of the same three-dimensional representation of the home. In the present example, the interior designers can thus consider the door handle, which is a construction company no longer sells. Instead, the company's website looking for a friend pen (fake website - it is done in Silverlight itself Nsquared), and its model is forwarded to a computer that is connected to the TV and Kinect.

Next, we offer even more fantastic example. Rudin camera plate photographed standing behind him the lamp, and then its image is sent to the big screen. The lamp takes its place on the virtual shelves, and then positioning it Rudin, using gestures. Unfortunately, how a flat photograph the camera turns into a three-dimensional model is not specified, but if you do not use the camera plate, and the Kinect, it is much more realistic (from Microsoft is already implemented in the game Kinect Fun Labs).

Finally - another unusual use of Surface. Rudin put it on the order form materials, face down, and then uses the opportunity to Surface scan. As it turned into this form will be added to the lamp and the door handle is not very clear (do not believe that automatically), but the fact that the possibility of so easily scan can not be interested.

In general, if you omit issues related to technical implementation, the team realized Rudin good examples of technology "seamless" connection between computers (seamless computing): no device in this demonstration does not need to be connected to another by means of wire, however the information is easily transmitted from one computer to another. It is not excluded that in an environment of such interfaces we'll be in the future.
